All WiFi routers crash out sometimes and lose connection to the internet. Even the high-end ones such as of Verizon experience bugs and some performance failure after a long period of time without turning off. And if you are one of those Verizon users looking for a way to fix Verizon router in quick and easy steps, we got you covered.Fix Verizon Router

Quick Fixes

Before we head straight to the more complicated instructions, we should first cover the common issues and how to fix them. There are some scenarios where the only solution is just a simple step which you could have done so in the first place. So before we get you to that tedious series of instructions, how about you do these quick fixes first?

Call Your ISP

  • It will be a silly situation to do everything in this article when the only solution you should have done in the first place is to ask your ISP (Internet Service Provider) for the issue. It could be that they are having maintenance at the moment that is why you cannot connect to the internet. So do this first before we continue with the step-by-step instruction.

Check Physical Connection

  • Like I said, it could be this obvious physical connection is the cause of this connectivity problem. If that is possible, then you should unplug the LAN cable first on both ends from the router to the modem. Then securely plug them back in. Now check the internet if it is now working.

Check for Physical Damages

  • See the physical integrity of the router and the modem itself. If you find that there are some damaged that were not there before, then that could be the cause of the loss of internet connection. Your router or modem must have some internal damage. Also, check for the LAN cable as well. There is a chance that the LAN cable is damaged due to some incident or that a rat or mouse chewed on it.

Is Your Device’s WiFi On?

  • It is unlikely but still, it is worth checking if your device WiFi is on. Otherwise, that should be the reason why you are currently unable to connect to the internet using your Verizon router.

Try Connecting Other Device

  • Again, it might be unlikely but there is also a chance that it could just be your WiFi device that cannot connect to the router. To check, get another smartphone or any device that has WiFi functionality as well and connect it to the router. If it connects and you are able to login at 192.168.1.1, then it’s just your device that has the problem. If it did not, then proceed to the next step.

Restart Verizon Router

  • It might be that the solution is just a restart of the device. So what you should do is turn off the router (and the modem) and wait for 1 minute before turning it back on.

How to Fix Verizon Router

I hope that you already did those things mentioned above before you arrive at this part of the article. If not, go back up and check them again. If you are done and still nothing works, well then here comes the more complicated solution.

Method 1: Reset to factory default

  1. Make sure that the power LED is on and that the router is fully on.
  2. Look for the reset button. If it is a big button, you may just press it for 10 seconds then let go.
  3. If you only see a pinhole, use a paper clip and press the pointed end to the hole for 10 seconds before letting go.
  4. The Verizon router will reboot and will go back to the default factory settings.
  5. If you are using a wireless device to connect to the network, you will need to reconnect your device as the password and SSID are back to its factory setup.
  6. Once connected, you should be able to connect to the internet now.

Method 2: Use Static IP

  1. On your smartphone, go to your WiFi settings and long press on the WiFi network that you are connected.
  2. Tap on Modify.
  3. Now, tap on Advanced Options.
  4. Scroll down and tap DHCP and switch to Static.
  5. Scroll down again and look for the DNS 1 and 2.
  6. For DNS 1 type 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1
  7. For DNS 2 type 8.8.4.4 or 1.0.0.1
  8. Hit Save and you should now be able to access the internet.

Note:

You can also do this on your Windows machine. Just go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change Adapter Settings > (name of the network you are connected) > Properties > TCP/IPv4 > Properties. Then type in those DNS mentioned above.

In Conclusion

Not every router issue requires complicated step-by-step instruction just to fix. But if nothing in this article has helped you, it is possible that your router is already beyond help. Or perhaps, you will need to see a technician get that fixed.
